Secular Franciscan Order - ANTHONY OF PADUA, Secular Franciscan Fraternity

Mission Statement

We are Catholic lay men and women from various parishes representing the Metropolitan area.  We seek to live our lives after Christ in the spirit of St. Francis by embracing his values of poverty, simplicity, joy and love of all creation.  We live the Gospel by reaching out to others with works of mercy and prayer. We meet on a regular basis to share our lives and efforts to live the Gospel in the Franciscan spirit.

Who and Why

Almost 800 years ago in Assisi, a young man named Francis was called by God to “Rebuild My Church.” He chose the life of Christ as his guide.  People began to follow him, embracing his values of poverty, joy, simplicity, gratitude, and love for all God’s creatures.  The Franciscans are a community of married and single Catholic men and women in the world who seek to pattern their lives after Christ in the spirit of St. Francis.  We are united in an international Order founded over 750 years ago by St. Francis, who desired to be like Jesus.  There are approximately 1,000 fraternities in the United States alone.
